Alaea is de naam van de legendarische rode vulkanische klei van het eiland Molokai, Hawaii.
Alaea werd gebruikt voor het inzouten van marlijn en als geneesmiddel,

Het werd speciaal gemaakt voor Hawaiiaanse rituele, zegeningen en religieuze feesten.
Door een hoog ijzergehalte kleurt de klei rood.
